EP167: “The Velvet Underground & Nico”

Brian Eno once said that while The Velvet Underground & Nico only sold around 30k copies upon its release, each of the 30k people that purchased it started their own band.  The proof lies in the straight line that you can draw from the band to artists as disparate as Bowie and the New York Dolls to Sonic Youth and REM.   It’s with that that in mind that the following artists are name dropped during this episodes conversation about the Velvets classic debut:   Ramones, Black Flag, The Stooges, Fela Kuti, Uriah Heap, Hawkwind, Pentagram, EYEHATEGOD, Sniper, Pogues, Stiff Little Fingers, VoiVod, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Love, The Doors, The Jimi Experience, Pink Floyd,  The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Damned, Buzzcocks, MC5. Roxy Music, Mercyful Fate, 101ers, Rancid, Descendents, At The Gates, Frank Zappa and the Mother’s of Invention, X, Bjork, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Captain Beefheart.
