Buzzcocks first three proper studio albums, released from 1977-’81, are all very good but nothing released by the band (or really any other band) before or since can touch their 1979 singles compilation. Whether or not you’re a fan of Punk, Pop Punk, Power Pop or the fucking Beatles, Singles Going Steady is undeniable. It’s a lesson in world class song writing with a driving pulse and hooks for days. None of your favorite bands exist without it.
RIP Pete Shelley
