The San Jose, California Doom Metal practitioners have never shied away from their devotion to Black Sabbath (they have a song called “Giza Butler” for god’s sake), and while the Birmingham legends influence looms large over the the trios sound, unlike many of their peers, Sleep are wholly unique. There is an atmosphere that Al Cicneros, Mike Pike and Chris Hakius are able to create that has always set them apart. That originality is nowhere more evident than on the 63 minute title track that makes up the foundation of their third LP.
