Abby Road, Led Zeppelin II, Let It Bleed and Tommy all came out in 1969 and none of the them better than Sly and the Family Stone’s 4th album Stand! released the same year. This music is as soulful, funky and enjoyable as anything of any era you care to compare it to. We try to articulate what makes it such a triumph.
